“I think that in this day and age, it’s really turned into something that feels antiquated and limiting in terms of who can actually participate.”

To date, no Republican woman has won any state's presidential nominating contest.

AP VoteCast for #IowaCaucus shows gender break pretty consistent with polls:
✔️No gender affinity advantage for Haley (as expected), if anything slight advantage with men (though w/in MOE)
✔️Trump winning overwhelmingly and nearly equally with men and women
If Haley wins any state's presidential nominating contest, she would be the first Republican woman to do so.

“New Jersey’s party line system especially hurts women and people of color. The intense political gatekeeping and lack of transparency created by the process makes it harder for newcomers to get in.'

“It’s really important to think of the diversity of the women serving as well. When governing bodies like state legislatures do not reflect the population, we know that important issues are not getting addressed.”
