Let's keep the conversation going. Development on our new Downtown Brookland can start in 2025. The economic development of the Brookland Neighborhood is envisioned to be around WMATA, 12th Street, Monroe Street Market, Reed Street and RIA.

We strive to create affordable and diverse housing options in a walkable, transit-oriented community with economic development in our Brookland neighborhood. Brookland is the "blueprint" for thorough public engagement.

I spoke to the developer reviving plans to build 230 apartments on Monroe Street across from the Brookland Metro, as The Brookland Bridge first reported. The project was first proposed in 2010, then blocked by a court three times after neighbors appealed: bisnow.com/washington-dc/…

Good community meeting last night with Councilmember Zachary Parker on WMATA's proposed development #Brookland Metro. And, with Ra Amin's skillful facilitation we got all our comments made, questions asked & answered and out of there in time to catch the debate.

A Memorial Helmet ceremony at Engine 17 in The Brookland Bridge honored the memory of 2 members of that company who died in the Line of Duty during the Department’s history. 102 helmets will be placed at locations throughout DC where members made the supreme sacrifice. #DCsBravest

Heads up: on Saturday September 28th there'll be crane lifts along the 3400 block of St NE and 700 block of Monroe St NE so the "future grocer" (Trader Joe's) can continue the build out of that space. There will be disruption to traffic and pedestrian patterns during that time.

Good news! DDOT DC has heard our concerns about speeding cars near the schools on 8th Street NE and will be installing two speed bumps - one on the 2800 block and another on the 2900 block.
