Another elusive bird I managed to photograph today was this Bittern as it flew over the reeds! They are an odd looking bird and seem to be all feathers! They are also well camouflaged in the reeds!

Today, I set off early with a friend to find the elusive Purple Heron that had been reported. This is a very rare bird which visits us occasionaly from Africa & Asia! Luck was on our side and here is the bird flying over the reeds!

I have had a great afternoon today particularly with Butterflies! This is a Dingy Skipper (Erynnis tages) - not very dingy, but quite striking with subtle browns & cream merging in the wing pattern!
