Fascinating talk Languages & Cultures at Lancaster University from Matthew Brown this afternoon on the history of sports in South America, bringing a focus to indigenous sporting cultures that have been hidden behind narratives positioning Europeans as the expert bringers of sports to South America.
Really exciting to see the Transcultural Writing, Practice and Research Network relaunched by Dr Delphine Grass and Lindsey Moore @PocoLCMoore. We can't wait for this event in June!

Superb day dragon boat racing against other Northwest CIs, with Lancaster University Confucius Institute (LUCI) and Languages & Cultures at Lancaster University colleagues and students at Liverpool Watersports Centre. We didn't win but we had the loudest supporters. And there is always next year!

Had a great time yesterday evening with colleagues and students at Liverpool Watersports Centre training for our upcoming Dragon Boat Race on Saturday, an annual fixture between Confucius Institutes in the Northwest Lancaster University Confucius Institute (LUCI) Languages & Cultures at Lancaster University
Head of Department Derek Hird and colleagues in French Romain Bardot and Benjamin Dalton are on their way to Liverpool to train for this year’s Dragon Boat race on Saturday, when they will be competing against teams from other universities 🐲🛶

Was so energising to learn more about the diverse and interdisciplinary research happening and to plan the next steps for the Network!
