Where are we?

There's a 17th century house hiding behind the blossom, home to a world-famous, Nobel Prize-winning writer.

He described it as 'a real house in which to settle down'. His children roamed the grounds like it was their own private jungle.

Can you guess it?

Explore Bateman's as part of the National Garden Scheme until 26 April. Discover the home of Rudyard Kipling and see why it was such a joy and an inspiration to him.

The National Garden Scheme raises money for nursing and health charities through admissions, teas and cake.

The study was the heart of the house, where Rudyard Kipling would retreat to write and read. His desk is very much the centrepiece of the room.

We love dogs at Bateman's, just as Rudyard Kipling loved his.

Well-behaved dogs on short leads are more than welcome to visit with you. They are allowed to explore all outdoor areas. Plus, there is lots of outside seating at the tea-room where you and your dog can sit together.
