One of the sorrows of historian Lyndall Ryan's death is that she will never compete the biography of her mother Edna Ryan. Lyndall visited the ANU History Department in 2003 to work on her biography, but Windschuttle's attack on her Tasmanian work sideswiped her. A great loss.

This May Day we've been digging around in the ADB archives to learn about those who dedicated their lives to fighting for workers' rights in Australia.

One of these figures was Edna Ryan (née Nelson, 1904-1997).
