'Agreement aims to make it easier for corporate and wealthy clients in the two markets to do business with each other'. Just the Brexit 'win' the red wall voted for. ft.com/content/e48654…

Why 'fury'? Did the UK not support these measures which apply to third-country nationals when it was an EU member? The UK by its own choice is now a third country. What's the problem with applying a law you voted for?

'Elon Musk, the US billionaire, attended the event in Rome and also attacked irregular immigration, claiming there was a risk of a “woke mind virus” spreading from the US to Italy.' Did Sukan tell him to stick to swimming in his own lane? ft.com/content/9cadd7…

Just imagine if Remain had won by 52/48. Just imagine the havoc in the EU a Tory gov harried by the 48 would have caused? And Farage still in the EP. It could have been a nightmare.

This week the EU adopted:
1. The Artificial Intelligence Act.
2. The Status of Platform Workers Directive.
3. The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive.
Divergence between the EU and the UK is growing as the EU develops its legal acquis and the UK is not keeping pace.

'Local politicians have countered that Northern Ireland, already one of the poorest UK regions, receives less money than it requires'. Just wait until Unionist politicians find out who has run NI for the most part since 1921. There will be hell to pay. ft.com/content/4f71ec…

There is one big difference between 'Rwanda' and Brexit. Brexit was constrained by what the European Union was prepared to offer the UK. Brexiters could rage at the EU. 'Rwanda' is completely an internal Tory coinfected crisis. theguardian.com/politics/2023/…

The idea that all the UK has to do is to rock up in Brussels and say 'We're back'? is for the birds. Even an approach to join the Single Market will be treated with caution. Why hand the UK all the economic benefits with none of the other obligations? theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/d…
