Vanuatu Mobile Force and Australian Defence Force members worked together on Op Engajem Komuniti and used their engineering skills to provide assistance to the village of Kole in Santo.

Met with Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in Vanuatu this week to perform urogynaecology surgeries at Vila Central Hospital. 🇦🇺 is working in partnership with 🇻🇺 and RACS to deliver clinical services and capacity building in Vanuatu & 10 Pacific Island countries 🌏

During his visit, Special Envoy McDonald also met with Deputy PM Seremaiah, Internal Affairs Minister Koanapo, Finance Minister Salong, Trade Minister Loughman, Climate Minister Regenvanu & high-level officials. Terrific to discuss issues of importance to 🇻🇺, 🇦🇺 & our region 🌏

Excellent to have Australia’s Special Envoy for the Pacific & Regional Affairs, Ewen McDonald 🇦🇺 Ewen McDonald in Vanuatu this week. We met with Prime Minister Salwai to discuss critical developments in our region, in 🇦🇺 & in 🇻🇺, and how we can best assist.

It took us a few minutes to work out where we had last met – on the 🇻🇺🇦🇺 TC Pam Recovery Program in 2015!

Australia and Vanuatu are connected by strong Melanesian ties. For Torres Strait Islander Hans Ahwang, visiting Vanuatu felt like coming home.

Labour mobility creates opportunities. Pareina is one of 15 ni-Vanuatu workers to recently graduate with a Certificate III in Individual Support & start work in the Australian aged care industry. Pareina says aged care is special: each person we nurse holds a part of history.

We recently supported a workshop in Lenakel, Tanna, where participants reflected on the benefits of traditional, community-based responses to address the impacts of volcanic ashfall on crops and water supply.
