Pacific voices have demonstrated sustained & innovative leadership to push global ambition in response to climate change and fisheries protection. I appreciate United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres joining this year’s PIF Leaders Week to discuss the Blue Pacific Continent.

Solomon Islands’ exports to Australia more than doubled from 2022 to 2023. As its #1 economic partner, 🇦🇺 has given 🇸🇧 open access to our markets. Local businesses can export any product free of tariffs & quotas under the PACER Plus free trade agreement.

The security, stability and prosperity of the Pacific is vital to Australia’s future, and to our own national security.  That’s why we’re investing in a Pacific-led policing initiative to strengthen policing capability and coordination in our region.

Here at the Pacific Islands Forum in Tonga I’ve had the opportunity to meet face to face with Pacific leaders to work on our shared challenges.

Best of luck to the 13 Pacific athletes competing in Paris as part of the Pacific’s largest ever Paralympic team. Australia is proud to have supported 40 aspiring Paralympians through #PacificAusSports in partnership with the @AusOlympicTeam and Oceania Paralympic Committee.

Through Team Up, 🇦🇺 has partnered with Honiara Table Tennis Association & ITTF-Oceania to launch 'Smash Down Barriers' & ‘Bounce it Back’. These programs use table tennis to empower women, girls & people with disabilities & encourage safe, responsible & inclusive sport.

Operation Render Safe 2024 is underway in 🇸🇧 – a joint Defence Australia and Royal Solomon Islands Police Force activity, supported by explosive ordnance specialists form Canada, Japan, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
