Sometimes it's important to recognise how far we as a research community have come - and build upon these successes. Very happy to share our PLOS Pathogens review on outbreak research (in which all authors are PhD students from HONOURs-ITN).

Parasites of our parasites! In our Nature Communications study, we identified three virus families using metagenomics, and pinpointed the hosts as human gut protozoa, some responsible for high human morbidity. Huge thanks to all colleagues, reviewers, and editors! nature.com/articles/s4146…

Wie wat bewaard heeft wat. Retrospectieve studie naar herinfectie met endemische coronavirussen. Conclusie:

Beschermende immuniteit kortdurend, herinfectie frequent, soms al binnen een jaar.

Geen reden om te denken dat dat voor SARS-CoV-2 anders is.

Very happy to be a part of this work out today in @nature. nature.com/articles/s4158…. Mosquitoes, long thought to be local creatures moving 1-2km in their lives appear to be able to move up to 295km in a night on high altitude wind currents!
