The theme for World Earth Day 2024 is Planet vs Plastics. The theme aims to bring attention to the serious issue of plastic pollution and how it harms nature. We need to look after this beautiful planet so future generations can enjoy it.

Wild native white bluebells are very rare. They occur when the flower’s blue pigment is missing, making them ‘albino’ bluebells. The ratio of blue to white in native bluebells is about 10,000 to 1. Good luck spotting one in a field of blue / purple!

Bluebells are extremely delicate and it is important to stay on marked paths if lucky enough to view them in their glory. Once damaged, need around 5 years to recover. So if you go down to the woods today... don't trample on the bluebells!

A few more of these beautiful Black Guillemots from Gyles Quay, Co. Louth. Black guillemots are small seabirds and their legs and the inside of their mouths are a vivid red.

“It is true, as they say, that the blossoms of spring are all the more precious because they bloom so briefly” –Murasaki Shikibu

It’s Cherry Blossom time of the year - brief but stunning they put on quite the show. This photo was taken yesterday at Dowdallshill, Dundalk.

Definitely the ‘pinkest’ l sunrise I’ve ever witnessed. This beautiful memory is from this day 2021 from Burrow Beach on the Howth Peninsula. It was stunning to watch. Saharan dust was responsible for the vivid pink.

Coumeenoole Beach on the Slea Head drive on the Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry. A beautiful alcove in a stunning setting. It’s a very popular destination on the tourist trail now but was originally made famous in the movie ‘Ryan’s Daughter’
