Ah, farewell Zilog Z80, the first processor I used in detail - in a Sinclair ZX Spectrum and then later in little projects before the Arduino and the like. An elegant weapon for a more civilised age.

(FTAOD this is wistfulness. Modern stuff is waaaay harder to understand down to the transistor but by heavens the capability improvements have been amazing, so few projects need that depth to work at all and you can focus your efforts elsewhere.)

Doug Clow Yeah, I'm really torn. Part of me would love to teach a module on retro games programming on the C64. Really dig down in to programming and optimisation techniques, get them really understanding how everything works.

Doug Clow But the realist in me has to acknowledge that they don't need that, that getting to grips with modern high level applications is more important.
In an ideal world I'd run it as an out of hours course/club. Maybe one day when universities manage to get achievable workloads. :-/
