A handful of men under Air Cmde Lazaro, AOC Adv HQ, Western Air Command, were colocated with the Western Command Army at Jullunder during the 1971 War. They directed no less than 900 fighter sorties supporting the Army in 12 days, covering the Punjab and J&K sectors.

With the passing of Sqn Ldr Majithia, the likely oldest surviving fighter pilot baton passes on to AVM Yeshwant Ramachandra Agtey. He turns 100 in 6 months!

Commissioned in 1943 (19 Pilot Course), he fought in Burma. Later commanded 8 Sqn, Jorhat and Adampur.
