Watching thousands of Fulmars suddenly drop from the cliffs Fair Isle Bird Obs, there was only going to be one culprit - a White-tailed Eagle, and a stunning adult at that!

A flash of blue down at the bottom of a cliff revealed the isle's 28th record of Red-flanked Bluetail, though just the second ever in spring - magic!
There's nothing like contextual rarity to make you properly appreciate a species, and with roughly six times as many records of Lanceolated Warbler as there are of Blue Tit Fair Isle Bird Obs, the appearance of this intrepid individual was very exciting!
A returning Blue Fulmar Fair Isle Bird Obs today - ringed last year when it held a cliff ledge on the isle, but failed to attract a mate.
