POSTGAME REPORT: With a big win over Tampa Bay Saturday night, the Capitals kept pace in the tight NHL eastern conference wild card race.

So Caps will finish the night in the final wild card spot at 87 points... Behind them, Detroit and Philly both with 87 and Pittsburgh with 86.

Philly has one game left - against Caps Tuesday. Caps, Red Wings and Penguins each have two more games.

Caps will host Boston Monday.

Should the Pens lose in regulation tonight, Washington could clinch a playoff spot Monday with a win over Boston and a Pittsburgh regulation loss to Nashville.

BIG WIN for the Caps. They top Tampa 4-2 and with a tiebreaker over Philly, at least for now, they hold the final wild card spot with 87 points.
