🚫Sexually explicit deepfakes🚫

We’re creating a new offence so anyone deliberately making a sexually explicit ‘deepfake’ image or video of another person without consent can be prosecuted.

If these horrific images are shared, offenders could face jail.

It can feel like David v Goliath when victims face powerful corporations with deep pockets in court.

We’re a step closer to levelling the playing field as new legislation to help victims get third party funding for their legal costs has its second reading in Parliament.

For too long non-disclosure agreements have been used to sweep criminality under the carpet and intimidate victims.

We're changing the law to ensure they can't prevent victims accessing the advice and support they need.

Yesterday marked the final episode of Joshua Rozenberg’s Law in Action which he has used to shine a light on our justice system.

I enjoyed sitting down to chat with him last year after my appointment as Lord Chancellor and wish him all the best.

Access to justice is a core pillar of this country’s legal system and one of the key reasons I went into politics.

Congratulations to all those who took silk yesterday in Westminster Hall.

The exceptional standards they have met is an enormous personal achievement. More than that, their quality strengthens our legal system and the UK's standing in the world.

Today we've introduced new legislation so victims can get third party funding for their legal costs when taking on big corporations.

We're levelling the playing field and making sure people can continue to access justice, no matter how deep the pockets of their opponents.

Cyberflashing is degrading and distressing for victims and it must not be tolerated or normalised.

Today the first person was sentenced under our new laws and will rightly serve time behind bars, sending a unequivocal message that this vile behaviour has severe consequences

Foreign national offenders have no place in the UK.

That is why we are

➡️ Deporting them
➡️ Banning their return

The Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was in Gloucestershire yesterday meeting with the amazing staff who run our NHS, incredible teachers at a university technical college, and local businesses who are giving young people opportunities for the future.

From front line and operational staff, to campaigners and barristers, women across the justice system work each and every day to make it better.

This we celebrate their achievements and remind ourselves of the work still needed to ensure their voices are always heard.

Delighted to see an extra £170m in the Budget for the justice system. This investment will help us to harness new technology to increase efficiency, deliver swifter justice while supporting more families to resolve their disputes.

It’s crucial victims can access justice – but it can feel like a David and Goliath battle when facing powerful corporations with deep pockets.

We're changing the law so more victims can secure vital funding to level the playing field.
