I wrote this article 'The consciousness of garbage' in 1985 & it's been republished on the Celebrating One Incredible Family website. Sadly, it's just as relevant today as 39 years ago, as very little has changed with regard to how we deal with our waste.

We had a Findhorn Hinterland work party yesterday morning to help clear the lichen beds on our site from being shaded out by gorse and lodgepole pines spreading from a nearby plantation. This is one of the special lichens occurring there - Cladonia uncialis subsp. uncialis.

I took these photos of a micro-moth on the newly-opened leaf of a silver birch tree on the Findhorn Hinterland a couple of days ago. Can anyone help with identifying which species of micro-moth this is?

Photographer Mandy Wilson has captured an extraordinary image showing a newborn dolphin riding on mom’s back around Penguin Island, near Perth, off Western Australia's coast – and seemingly smiling in delight

I photographed this tiny springtail (Protaphorura sp.) on the underside of a piece of dead wood in Glen Affric. It belongs to a group of springtails which even experts find difficult to identify to species level. In my view, they are some of the cutest of the springtails!

First cherry blossoms in Kyoto, Japan have a record going back to the 9th Century. It shows:
- No trend and random noise till about 1800. Then,
- Exponential warming for the last two centuries.

These single site data from crude instrumentation track climate change very well.

It's less than 3 weeks now until our workshop 'A Rewilding Journey' takes place in Glen Affric, from 11-18 May & we still have some last places available on it. We especially invite women, to create a better gender balance, & can offer subsidised places.
