Overtly variegated #plants are not for me but with the purple flowers and transparent seed heads later this biennial variegated Honesty gives early colour and food for the orange tip #butterflies now on the wing looking for places to lay their eggs.

Leaves a little battered by recent winds but quince blooms still looking beautiful! Should be another heavy crop for us on this Cydonia japonica Meeches Prolific.

Alan E Down Sorry Alan, I’m not on here much these days! When young, if in good sun, the regular Fastigiata cultivar can stay very narrow. Robusta has a much bigger leaf. If not clipped (or secateured) they do get wide with age as we often see.

There’s a few #bumblebees hunkered down out of the high winds on this early flowering pink bugle. It’s a great early source of nectar for #insects in our #garden which is so terribly important!
It’s also loving all this rain!

A #magnolia hybrid between M. veitchii x soulangiana Rustica Rubra.
Late flowering, good colour but tall open habit of veitchii. Perfect goblet shaped blooms!

Very impressive mahonia Windsor Great Park #SavillGarden and not one I’ve seen before. It’s Mahonia Bokrafoot and looks like a hugely improved aquifolium type. Apparently lots of blue berries later!
