The City of LA’s Budget and Finance Committee is preparing to sign off on a new budget and threatens to cut many vital positions.

On this day, May 9, 1972, 4,000 Texas garment workers- most of them Mexican women- walked out for union representation, beginning a 2-year strike and an international boycott that ended in a resounding victory, inaugurating a new generation of Chicana organizing along the border.
