Thinking of getting a heat pump installed?

Well, there's a scheme in place from Nesta that allows you to go and look at one.

One day, we might look back on this and think it rather quaint.

Thirty eight trillion dollars a year of economic impacts. THIRTY EIGHT TRILLION.

Already baked in, very few considered by treasuries and economic departments because they’re “externalities” to way growth is traditionally modelled.

Bus stops shouldn't discharge passengers straight into cycle lanes - proper bus stop bypasses are a better solution.

We're planning a visit to Castleton to investigate what's working and what could be better. DM us if interested; we'd like to hear from various user groups.

2 stories on the news:

1. Scotland not introducing enough policies to deliver clean tech and other measures for their climate targets

2. Anxiety about China (and others) ruthlessly subsidising clean tech and thus dominating the future global economy

Writes itself really.

Totally agree with this.
All councils that have 2030 / 2035 net zero targets need to be doing everything NOW to cut their carbon, but so often they’re not even doing the basics - as Dan Grey spells out.

Why WFH is better:
Zero travel time between meetings
Compartmentalising: I focus on one thing at a time eg inbox, drafting, discussion
Longer periods focussing on one thing
Not continually distracted by chatter
More refreshed after lunch
No flurescent lights
Kitchen, toilet close

If you write anything on climate change on here the reaction is now routinely swamped by trolls and 'sceptics'. But it's still mind-blowing that anyone can look at stories of harvests failing and then blanket reject studies warning of big economic impacts. businessgreen.com/news-analysis/…

My pushback on this is, of course, that business actually does choose (parts of) the North and the Midlands over London (especially) and South England generally. But then it's the UK state the chooses to invest in South East England. Over time this becomes self-fulfilling.

NEW: Most EU countries are on track to meet their public EV charging infrastructure targets.

There were more than 630,000 charge points in the bloc at the end of 2023, with the charging network growing faster than the electric vehicle fleet.

🚨NEW REPORT: 🚨

How do we crack the decarbonisation of heat challenge?

➡️Clean heat standards are an important part of the answer.

It is a novel mechanism similar to zero emission vehicle standards and renewable portfolio standards but for heat. 🧵

The curves of action we now need are very different now than they were even a decade ago—profoundly different than they were in, say, 1970.
