When you get the gift of gifts from the mother of all mothers, Mother Nature herself. Feeling pretty high honours having this western tanager this morning. It's been 14-15yrs since I've seen one in our yard.

If anyone wonders why I haven't posted today, I'm on a flight to Italy to co-direct the Operational Space Weather Fundamentals School in L'Aquila. From dusk to dawn, #Aurora has been my constant companion. It's my first time seeing it with my own eyes. Words do not do justice.

Extreme (G5) geomagnetic conditions have been observed!

The first #solarstorm in this train has hit! The storm is quite fast so the initial impact has caused a G4-level response momentarily. (See the red bar showing Hp30 exceeding 8). The magnetic field is strong and southward, but wildly fluctuating. Expect substorms to cause #aurora

Look who's a couple of thousand kilometers south of where he should be at this time of year ... a Harris's sparrow. We had 3 during the winter, 2 stayed throughout the entire winter. Hadn't seen 1 in a few weeks. Saw 1 at the feeder yesterday: SE of Lethbridge, AB.

& I definitely don't believe she's an animal lover as she claims

I'm just not feeling good about anything lately, so here's the mallard couple my neighbour relentlessly kicked off her lawn because fertilizer couldn't wait a few days.
