Major General Maureen O'Brien 🇮🇪, joined Óglaigh na hÉireann in 1981, shortly after women were allowed to join for the first time.

Today, she is the first female UN 🇺🇳 Deputy Military Adviser.

Our 2* training platoon got to grips with section nav today on Brandon Hill (non-tac).Who knows when they may need to save an Officer with map!

Later,they'll tackle night nav in full combat order.

We were delighted to present Corporal Michael 'Smokey' Dwyer with his new meritorious promotion today in front of colleagues old and new!

Our Battalion is over 100 years old - Smokey has served for 42 of them, enlisting at Connolly Bks,the Curragh in 1981.

Capt Jane O Neill recently took part in a Women in STEM summit in Croke Park, focusing on her career in Defence Forces Engineer Corps to date and the opportunities for women to pursue careers in STEM in Óglaigh na hÉireann

👏 Hats off to Cpl Michael Whelan in interviewing our former Uachtarán and Supreme Commander.

Michael's dedication has resulted in hundreds of hours of priceless voice recordings capturing DF experiences, including many former Bloods.
